AUNTIE'S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
My mother has always wanted to visit your beautiful islands, and we
want to bring her on our vacation. But, she is confined to a wheelchair.
Do the hotels, restaurants, museums etc. have handicapped access?
M.S.
Milwaukee, WI
Aloha M.S.: Your mom
will love Maui Nui! Virtually all of our hotels and public places
are fully equipped to handle wheelchairs and the other special requirements
of disabled persons. All of the beauty of our Islands will be there
for her and she'll find plenty to do -- she can even meet some of our "senior
citizens" at many places around Maui. Just check our ACCOMMODATIONS
page where you can contact most of Maui Nui's hotels, vacation rentals,
condos and more.

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
We are coming to visit Maui in the winter. Could you please tell us
the best places to go snorkelling to see coral reefs off the shore. Also,
could you please tell us if fishing is reasonably priced? (Do you have
to go out on a boat, or can we fish off the shore?) Thanks for reading
my letter.
J.B.
San Jose, CA
Aloha J.B.: Are you
in luck! Maui has more great snorkeling spots than you can shake
a stick at. The best way to line up the best snorkeling, and great
fishing as well, is to check out the companies that offer these trips.
Just click on over to our Activities
page. You can contact most of these activity providers via email
or a toll-free "800" number.

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
I found your address in the home page of Maui.
I was wondering if there is a university in Maui. Thank you for your
help.
B.D.
Renton, WA
Dear B.D.: Maui is a wonderful place to study.
Maui Community College (MCC) offers a complete selection of Associate degrees.
In addition the Maui University Center, a program of the University of
Hawaii also offers opportunities for Bachelor and Masters degrees in many
fields. The campus is beautiful and many courses are offered through
a state-of-the-art distance learning program as well. Check it all
out at the MCC
website.

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
I am planning a trip to Maui in June/July 1998.
There will be 9 adults, 2 children (ages 10 & 17) require 5 - 6 bedrooms.
Beach access a must, a pool a plus. We are just in the planning stages
and would like to find as many homes as possible to choose the perfect
place. We will be there approx 7 nights, would like something upscale,
"special". Our price range $3 - 4,000 for the week, including tax
and cleaning. Do you know of anything? We will have our first planning
meeting in the next two weeks, as much info as possible is appreciated.
C.D.
San Diego, CA
Dear C.D.: Whew! Sounds like you'll need
plenty of help. Good thing you asked us! I suggest you
contact one of our Maui Experts Travel Agencies. They're all Maui
folks who know our island like the back of their hands. They're available
vial email through our "Create
Your Maui Vacation Online" page. It's their job to help out on
all the details -- sounds like you'll give them a workout!

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
I am doing a school report on Maui. I will be
doing a lecture for my class and would like to have a visual aid. Is it
possible to get a map of Maui on a transparency?
J.B.
Bend, OR
Dear J.B.: Easy! Just go to the map
on our website. If you have a printer connected to your computer
you can just click on the "print" icon on your browser, or save the page
to your hard disk. Then you can print it out on a transparency sheet
-- you can get them at most office supply stores, or put the file on a
floppy disk and take it to someplace like Kinko's or Dittos. Good
luck with your lecture.

Dear Maui Visitors Bureau:
My wife and I will arrive on Wednesday, September
3 for a one-week stay in the Kapalua area. We will be accompanied
by our 2-year old son and are interested in finding information on activities
appropriate for him. He loves horses, music, drawing and has
the short attention span of a typical 2-year old. We will have a
rental car and plan on doing the normal tours - Haleakala and Hana, but
expect we will get more out of those activities than will our son.
We would like to find some things that he would really enjoy -- not only
to make it a more fun trip for him, but to preserve our sanity. We
would be most appreciative of any recommendations you could make.
S.K.
Tokyo, Japan
Dear S.K.: Lucky you come Maui. Keiki (chldren's)
activities are available all over the island. Find out more at our
"Family
Vacactions" page. You'll find info from all the hotels, activity
providers, community organizationrs and more. And by the way -- we've
also got baby gear for rent and baby sitters too!
